The Health Innovation Challenge is a competition set up to identify, celebrate and reward promising innovations in health targeted at addressing critical challenges in the country’s health sector. The country’s first ever edition was conducted in 2015. Select participants from the first stage were invited to a multiday design thinking and business development boot camp. Following the boot camp, participants were given the opportunity to pitch their innovations to a panel of experts. 11 finalists were eventually selected and were invited for an exhibition/showcase at the Health Innovation Awards and Impact Investment Summit which was geared at linking innovators with investors. 5 winners were selected and awarded grants for their innovations (ranging from $20,000 to $100,000).
